11 Steps to pod photo editing for Cacao Clones Manual

1.       Open original photos in Microsoft PhotoEditor® to view accession name, and rename image files with accession name.

2.       Insert the pod image into a blank PowerPoint® slide (Insert>Picture>From file…)

3.       Adjust the PowerPoint® slide to the following dimensions: 38.1 x 28.57 (File>Page Setup)

 New PowerPoint page set-up

4.       Reformat the image to fit the size of the PowerPoint® slide (Format>Picture>Size)

5.       Paste a pre-drawn scale into the same slide

6.       Stretch/shrink pre-drawn scale to match ruler in pod photo (Format>Object>Height)

7.       Add text box with label for accession etc (Arial black: 24-28pt)

8.       Format picture (crop) to remove old ruler and old label (Optional: remove old colour scale)

9.       Select all objects and group (this step not really necessary, except maybe in Paint)

10.   Click File/Save As and choose TIFF (or PNG) format to save the new file as an image, (click ‘no’ to import only current slide even if there is only one slide) PowerPoint only exports at 72ppi, so PNG may work better for exporting from PowerPoint (I have not tested this.)

11.   Open image with Photo-editing software (Adobe Photoshop recommended) to crop the white space around it.
